I am a cell biologist and my work focuses on how cells sense and respond to mechanical signals of the surrounding tissue microenvironment. In particular, I am interested in the mechanosensing mechanisms of neurons and glial cells in the nervous system. My current research combines biomechanical measurements on living nerve tissue to study the local microenvironment elasticity with advanced 3D tissue-biomimetic mechanical microenvironments to explore the impact of biophysical and biochemical cues on nervous system development and regeneration.
