Since July 2020, Lothar Kuhn is head of the communication and marketing department at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light and the Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin. He studied biochemistry at the Witten/Herdecke University and completed a trainee program in journalism at the Georg von Holtzbrinck-Schule für Wirtschaftsjournalisten in Düsseldorf. After working for Handelsblatt, WirtschaftsWoche und Capital, he became deputy editor-in-chief of Harvard Business Manager. In 2012, as founding editor-in-chief, he introduced the German edition of the British science magazine New Scientist. He then returned to WirtschaftsWoche as head of the innovation and technology news desk. In 2017 he became deputy editor-in-chief as part of the founding team of Edison, a new media brand covering technology topics such as mobility, energy and digitalization.
