My research interest focuses on biomembrane dynamics. For that purpose, I investigate the diffusive behavior of lipids and proteins on model membrane systems such as supported lipid bilayers and giant unilamellar vesicles. I aim to optimize iSCAT for membrane-related tracking applications.

Martin Blessing studied Molecular Medicin (BSc) and Biochemistry (MSc) at Ulm University from 2010 to 2016. For his Master’s thesis on “smFRET studies of the initiation from E.coli’s RNA polymerase on a long consensus lac promoter”, he moved to Oxford University where he worked in the group of Prof Achillefs Kapanidis. In 2016 he joined the group of Prof Vahid Sandoghdar at MPL Erlangen as a PhD student.
