Abstract:
A central question in the foundations of quantum mechanics is whether observers — those who measure quantum systems — can themselves be described as quantum systems. Traditionally, this has been regarded as a metaphysical issue, with no experimentally testable implications. In this talk, I will challenge that view. I will argue that ideas from artificial intelligence, particularly the modelling of artificial agents, open a novel path toward empirically addressing this question.
