Interview with Vahid Sandoghdar and Daqing Wang about latest article in Nature Physics
Phys.org has published an interview with Vahid Sandoghdar and Daqing Wang presenting our latest article published in Nature Physics. In the article "Turning a molecule into a coherent two-level quantum system" our researchers show how it is possible to turn a molecule into a coherent two-level quantum system by placing an organic molecule inside an optical microcavity.
Instead of using a single atom, which can usually only be kept for time scales of the order of seconds, the use of a single molecule allows for time scales of days and weeks, as it sits at exactly the same place in its surrounding crystal.
In the future, this effect could be used to develop linear and nonlinear quantum photonic circuits based on organic platforms.
