Gerd Leuchs new OSA Director-at-large
From 2020, Prof Gerd Leuchs and Prof Polina Bayvel will be members of the board of directors of OSA.
On September 17, the annual meeting of the Optical Society (OSA) took place at Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science in Washington DC, USA. The OSA election result for 2019 was announced there: From 2020, Prof Gerd Leuchs and Prof Polina Bayvel will be members of the board of directors of OSA. President elect is Prof Satoshi Kawata.
The OSA is the leading forum for science and technology in the field of light, whose mission is to promote the generation, dissemination and application of knowledge in optics and photonics. The OSA serves the global community through content and events that are binding, accessible and archived, as well as through its educational, advocacy and public relations programs.
Gerd Leuchs, together with Philip Russell, founded the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light and is emeritus as of April 2019.
