MPL Alumni chosen as runner up at Quantum Futur Award

Former PhD student Kirill Spasibko from the research group of Maria Chekhova has been chosen as the runner up at the Quantum Futur Award competition.

Together with the quantum technology community, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) launched the Quantum Futur program in spring 2018. Part of the program is the Quantum Futur Award. With this award, the BMBF honors outstanding and innovative scientific work with clear application relevance in the field of quantum technologies. The study award is offered in the categories of master's and doctoral theses.

A jury of experts from science, business and politics selects five finalists per category (master's or doctoral theses). The jury determines the the runner ups and winners of the award based on the applications and pitches. In addition, the Quantum Futur Audience Award is presented for the best pitch. This year, MPL Alumni Kirill Spasibko, who was a PhD student in the research group of Maria Chekhova, was selected as one of the five finalists in the doctoral theses category. He and the other candidates presented their works on November 25. You can watch the presentation here: https://www.quantentechnologien.de/event/quantum-futur-award-2022.html

After his presentation, the jury decided to award Kirill Spasibko as runner up in his category.
