Advancing Quantum Photonics: 11th Annual Meeting of the Max Planck uOttawa Centre at MPL
From July 21 to 24, 2025, the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL) hosted the 11th edition of the Annual Meeting of the Max Planck uOttawa Centre for Extreme and Quantum Photonics. The meeting is a key instrument for fostering intensive scientific collaboration between the University of Ottawa, the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ), and MPL.
More than 80 participants, including a delegation of 18 researchers from Ottawa (Canada), came together in Erlangen for four days. The program featured three days of scientific talks, poster sessions, and discussion rounds, plus an additional day dedicated specifically to student tutorials and activities.
The goal of the meeting was not only to present recent research results, but also to spark new collaborations. Particular emphasis was therefore placed on encouraging dialogue beyond the official program. Space for personal exchange and the invitation to extend stays in Erlangen beyond the conference itself provided ample opportunity to build new connections and deepen research partnerships on site.
The Max Planck uOttawa Centre for Extreme and Quantum Photonics brings together the expertise of the partner institutions in quantum optics, nonlinear optics, and photonics. The Centre’s annual meetings provide an important platform for discussing current developments, planning joint projects, and supporting the next generation of early-career researchers.
