Our Physics – Our Research: UPhUF visits MPL
At the event “Our Physics – Our Research” (German: Unsere Physik – Unsere Forschung, UPhUF), the working groups of the Department of Physics at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) provided information about their current research. The venue was the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL).
Around 100 students took advantage of the opportunity to receive guidance for their future scientific careers and possible topics for their theses. The spacious foyer of the state-of-the-art research institute provided the ideal setting for the poster session, bringing students and scientists together for discussions. In direct exchanges, participants learned about current research topics, possible projects, specific methods, and open positions.
Among others, the independent research group “Cellular Evolution” led by Dr. Jona Kayser (MPL and Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin, short: MPZPM), the “Neural Mechanics” division led by Prof. Kristian Franze (MPZPM/FAU), and the “Quantum Information Processing” (QIV) research group of Prof. Christoph Marquardt (MPL/FAU) were represented.
The event impressively demonstrated how important direct encounters between students and research teams are for promoting young talent.
