How to apply
for an IMPRS-PLL MD fellowship
Applications for an IMPRS MD fellowship are possible throughout the year.
With your application to IMPRS-PLL (physics of light or physics and medicine track) you apply for
- an IMPRS-PLL membership
- a monthly stipend of about 992 Euro (for a duration of 9 months)

What documents do we need from you?
- Motivation letter
- CV
- University certificates and academic records
- Short sketch of planned MD thesis (if already known)
- At least one letter of recommendation
- Additional information e.g., certificates (if available)
In the application portal, you will be asked to select a supervisor for your MD thesis amongst our medical IMPRS PIs. If you already talked to the PI in question before your application, please indicate it in your documents (e.g., by asking them for a letter of recommendation).
Selection process
MD candidates will automatically be associated with the “physics and medicine” track within IMPRS-PLL.
Selection procedure:
- application documents are evaluated by the selection committee
- short-listed candidates are invited for an interview with the selection committee
- candidates who pass the interview, are admitted into the IMPRS Physics from Light to Life (IMPRS-PLL)
