Probing surfaces at the nanoscale - Scanning probe microscopy basics and measuring modes (for (bio-)medical scientists)
Probing the local properties of surfaces at the nanoscale enables a better understanding of physical and chemical interaction. Scanning probe microscopy techniques allow to image local topography and can be extended to probe optical properties, mechanical friction, chemical potential etc. The presentation aims to give an introduction and overview of available techniques/tools at MPL and outline alternatives.
The lectures are meant to provide basic physical concepts to IMPRS-PM (bio-)medical scientists or vice versa. But also interested students and researchers from the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, the IMPRS Physics of Light, the Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin, the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen are welcome to attend the talks.
