FAU meets IMPRS @MPL
Poster Session.
Do you know IMPRS?
On April 29th our third „FAU meets IMPRS”-Event took place in the Foyer of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light. We invited interested FAU Bachelor and Master students from the fields of Physics and Engineering to learn more about our graduate programme “IMPRS Physics of Light (IMPRS-PL)” and the fellowship we offer.
The same event is planned for May 13th at the Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin (MPZPM) that addresses FAU Bachelor and Master students from the fields of Physics, Medical Engineering, Biology and Medicine. Feel free to join!
The “open day” on April 29th started with an introductory talk by our IMPRS-PL Chair Prof. Florian Marquardt who presented our Max Planck Graduate Programme IMPRS-PL. Afterwards, the IMPRS Scientific Coordinator Prof. Nicolas Joly talked about his research in Microstructured Optical Fibres, followed by presentations about Quantum Information Processing and Femtosecond Molecular Fieldoscopy.
Following the short talks, the invited FAU students had the chance to participate in a poster session and thus learn even more about the research that is carried out within our graduate programme. Several lab tours, that were offered in parallel to the poster session, provided additional interesting insight into experiments run by the MPL research groups of Prof. Leonhard Möckl, Prof. Maria Chekhova, Dr. Katja Zieske, Dr. Pascal Del'Haye and Prof. Nicolas Joly.
Scientific exchange between FAU students and the participating IMPRS students & IMPRS friends (thanks to all of you for your talks, posters, lab tours!) took place amidst the research posters while jovially enjoying some snacks and drinks.
To all FAU students reading this - we plan to organize those open-day events regularly once a year. If you are interested, just have a look at our homepage or follow us on social media to find out when the “FAU meets IMPRS” in 2026!
