FAU meets IMPRS @MPL

On April 28, we welcomed enthusiastic Bachelor and Master students from FAU’s Physics and Engineering programmes to our 4th “FAU meets IMPRS” event at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL).

The evening kicked off with an introduction talk by Prof. Florian Marquardt, Chair of the IMPRS, who outlined the unique opportunities offered by our international Max Planck graduate school.

We then heard talks from our researchers:

  • Prof. Stephan Götzinger on Quantum Optics
  • Prof. Nicolas Joly on Microstructured Optical Fibres
  • Dr. Ayan Banerjee on Non-Hermitian Topological Phenomena (Prof. Flore Kunst research group)

Following the presentations, students explored our research fields in an engaging poster session. Parallel lab tours offered hands-on glimpses into the work of research groups led by Profr. Birgit Stiller, Prof. Leonhard Möckl, Prof. Nicolas Joly, and Dr. Pascal Del’Haye.

The highlight? The vibrant exchange between FAU students and our IMPRS community – thank you for your inspiring talks, posters, and lab tours!

And of course, the day was rounded off with great conversations, snacks, and drinks.
