FAU meets IMPRS @MPZPM

On April 30, we hosted the second edition of our “FAU meets IMPRS” event at the Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin (MPZPM).

We welcomed motivated Bachelor and Master students from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg studying Physics, Molecular Medicine, ILS, Medical Engineering and Medicine, eager to learn more about our international Max Planck graduate programme and the unique opportunities.

The evening began with an introdution talk by Prof. Vasily Zaburdaev, one of our IMPRS Chairs, who shared an overview of the programmes’s vision, structure, and research excellence.

Next, we heard from our researchers at MPZPM:

  • Dr. Viola Introini on Vascular Infections
  • Prof. Ben Fabry on Biophysics

Following the talks, students dove into the scientific environment of MPZPM during a dynamic poster session, gaining firsthand insights into cutting-edge projects. Parallel lab tours offered an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at ongoing experiments in:

  • Prof. Tomohisa Toda's and Prof. Kristian Franze's lab
  • The Cell Physics Division
  • Prof. Benoît Ladoux’s lab

The highlight? The lively scientific exchange between FAU students and current IMPRS members and friends — thank you for your inspiring talks, posters, and lab tours!

And of course, the day was made even better with great conversations, snacks, and drinks.
