In a joint initiative, the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL), the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), the Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena (FSU), the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF offer an international PhD programme.

Since 2016, MPL and FAU additionally offer a joint Master's (MSc) programme in physics within the framework of IMPRS-PL.

The Annual Meeting 2020, organized by the International Max Planck Research School Physics of Light (IMPRS-PL), took place between October 21st and 23rd. 30 students, supervisors and external speakers all met in a virtual setting for three days of learning, exchanging ideas and socializing.
