Dr. Dorothe Burggraf is head of the administration and infrastructure at Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Light. She graduated in chemistry from Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich and obtained her PhD in protein analysis from the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry. At the LMU, she engaged in postdoctoral research in neurology leading the junior research group “Vascular Damage in Stroke” for several years. Simultaneously, she completed her studies in business administration and graduated with a diploma. Focusing her personal development on science management, she then moved on to a management position at the Helmholtz Center in Munich. After a few years as coordinator for EU affairs she assumed financial responsibility for the two German Centres for Diabetes Research and for Lung Research within the Helmholtz Association.

In May 2018, Dorothe Burggraf joined the Max Planck Society at the Max-Planck-Institute for the Physics of Light in Erlangen. In her current position, she leads the management of administration and infrastructure. In particular, her management activities focus on organisational development and expansion establishing a new research center, the Max-Planck Zentrum für Physik und Medizin.
