I am writing my Ph.D. in the field of experimental biophysics. I measure the mechanical properties of cells, such as elasticity and viscosity, using real-time deformability cytometry. To learn more about the microcirculation, I link these mechanical properties with a cell's ability to squeeze through narrow constrictions. This can be of interest in the context of, for example, blood-related diseases or circulating tumor cells. Handling biological cells, designing and using microfluidic systems, and analyzing data with Python are essential parts of my work. As part of the Guck Lab at MPL and in the framework of the Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin, I try bridging the gap between physics, biology, and medicine.
