Grand Opening Symposium 2024 | Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin

At the Max Planck Zentrum für Physik und Medizin (MPZPM), scientists specializing in physics, medicine and biology will be working together under one roof starting in September to research fundamental questions in medicine from a completely new mathematical-physical perspective.

We will celebrate the opening of the new research building on 18 and 19 September 2024 with a distinguished scientific symposium – the GRAND OPENING SYMPOSIUM. Renowned international speakers from the scientific fields of physics, medicine and biology will give keynote and cutting-edge insights into their latest studies, highlighting the extraordinary potential of the MPZPM.

The MPZPM is an interdisciplinary, joint research center of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen. The research at MPZPM focuses on the study of cells in the context of their microenvironment, the space that connects and encompasses a variety of cell types in a tissue. The overall purpose is to gain a fundamental understanding of living systems, biological processes and their pathological changes and to translate these into therapeutic applications.
