Humboldt Research Fellowship for Xuemei Gu

Xuemei Gu, a postdoc at MPL has received a prestigious Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for 2 years.

Xuemei Gu works in Mario Krenns research group “Artificial Scientist Lab” at MPL. They investigate how new artificial intelligence can make conceptual advances in physics, particularly quantum physics and quantum optics. In order to apply for a Humboldt Fellowship, she had to define her own research project, which she titled “AI-assisted discovery of novel quantum optical imaging concepts from astronomy to microscopy”. After an evaluation by international experts, she informed about the success of her application in December 2022. Beginning in May 2023, her postdoc position will now be payed in full through the Foundation for 2 years.
