This special day is dedicated to everything related to light and was declared by UNESCO. It is celebrated each year on May 16 and as the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light we are happy to participate in the event.

We welcome you to visit our institute on this day. There will be a talk about Quantum Cryptography, an encryption method utilizing the special properties of light. We will also show a powerful laser that will shine from the roof of our building to the city center of Erlangen.
