Nonlinear and quantum optoacoustics
Our research fields of interest span from nonlinear optics to quantum optics with a focus on light-sound interactions and waveguide optomechanics. The physics of optical waves interacting with acoustic or mechanical vibrations is fascinating, linking two very different domains in terms of frequency, velocity, dissipation and other properties. Our aim is to explore this interaction experimentally at the classical and quantum levels with suitably engineered microstructured fibres and nanowaveguides to manipulate, light states.
The current topics and projects include: light storage via sound waves, quantum signal processing with optoacoustic interactions, optical computing, optoacoustic treatment of orbital angular momentum modes in chiral photonic crystal fibers, thermodynamic processes in liquid-core fibres and magnon-phonon-photon interactions.
