IMPRS-PL has two deadlines for MSc applications: January 15th and May 31st

We process applications from entering master’s students in two rounds with deadlines on January 15th and May 31st for the academic year starting in the following October. Decisions are communicated by March 1st and July 1st, respectively.


Please read all the information on this page carefully. Most important to know is that with your application to IMPRS-PL you apply for

  • the IMPRS-PL membership
  • a monthly stipend of 934 Euro / month

If your IMPRS application is successful, you still need to apply at FAU for either the "Master of Sciences in Physics" or the "Master of Advanced Optical Technologies (MAOT)" at FAU (more information on and get admitted to the respective Master course.


To apply for a membership in IMPRS-PL, please download the pdf file that contains a list of documents we ask you to include in your application. Please work with the list thoroughly and make sure to have assembled all necessary certificates / transcripts / documentation / reports before handing in your application!

Please ask two referees to send a letter of recommendation on your behalf to Those two letters will be collected in the coordination office and added to your application documents. Only afterwards your application is complete and will be sent to the scientific evaluation committee.
