10th IMPRS Annual Meeting & 6th Autumn Academy
The joint Annual Meeting and Autumn Academy 2019, took place between October 7th and 11th. 45 students, supervisors and external speakers all met in Kühnhofen near Hersbruck for a week of learning, exchanging ideas and socializing. Students presented their work during talks and attended block lectures tailored to their needs. Of particular interest were invited talks by renowned international scientists Prof. Markus Aspelmeyer, Prof. Cornelia Denz, Prof. Thierry Grosjean and Prof. Irina Kabakova and the poster sessions, which sparked animated conversations until late at night. Marc-Oliver Pleinert won an award for best poster; Victor Distler and Cameron Okoth won awards for best student talks. Undisputed highlight was the discussion round organized by the student speaker in which students seized the opportunity to ask questions on a variety of topics to the invited panelists who moved from table to table creating a very personal and engaging atmosphere. The week ended with a presentation by invited IMPRS-PL Alumni Dr. Christian Schaller and lab tours at MPL.
